Smooth Sailin'

It's a gorgeous Thursday morning in sunny San Diego and the winds are blowing steadily across the bay shaking the thin palm leaves, making it perfect sailing weather.  My very good friend Jess is a sailing instructor and taking me out for the first time; I couldn't be more thrilled.  The wind and currents swirl the salt water creating different hues of blue and deep green, while the sun's reflection resembles glittering diamonds scattered across the surface of the water.
We unroll the sails, rig them up, strap on our life-vests, and head out.  The salty scent of the pacific water instantly sooths my nerves as a novice sailor, and the view of the bay and other sailors, windsurfers, and boaters are an entertaining one.
Jess suggests that we sail across to Barefoot Bar located right on the waterfront for some drinks and I nod my head with enthusiasm.  Sitting there on the shore with cocktails in hand, our freshly dressed maxi dresses, the gorgeous view, and eachother, I felt there was no care in the world.  It was just us and the water.
The hours passed so fast and next thing I knew we were back in our gear sailing back into the harbor.  "Man, this was great," I say to Jess.  She suggests we do it again and more often; I couldn't agree more.
Nothing but a day of smooth sailing.

xx
